SAFIRE RTERun Time Environment for Signaling Systems. |
|
||
|
|
|||
Overview
SAFIRE RTE is a lightweight operating system, optimized for signaling systems implemented with the SAFIRE Toolchain. It includes the SAFIRE RTE Console & SAFIRE Tracer.
The console controls the execution of SAFIRE systems, offering on-line performance statistics, diagnostic information and configuration (GDMO/MIB). Signaling events can be captured at run-time using the tracer, and system behavior can be logged for post-event analysis using the SAFIRE Animator (part of SAFIRE Professional).
SAFIRE RTE runs under Windows XP; Linux and native versions for embedded systems are available on request.

Description
SAFIRE RTE is a run-time environment for the execution of SAFIRE signaling systems. It is a fully integrated part of the SAFIRE Toolchain, which itself is a complete environment for the implementation & validation of signaling systems. Please refer to the SAFIRE Professional datasheet for more details about the Toolchain. The RTE has 3 main components:
The SAFIRE RTE VM virtual machine is a self-contained operating system, optimized for signaling systems, with built-in services for event scheduling, timers, memory management, real-time ISR handling, drivers & communication with 3rd party applications (via IP).
It turns a standard Windows Pentium platform into a high-performance engine able to run large & complex signaling systems (see specifications below); other platforms available on request. The virtual machine was developed for and is fully compatible with the SAFIRE Toolchain, hooking into the organizer, tracer and animator (note: the animator is not part of the SAFIRE RTE, but can load information from the RTE).
The SAFIRE RTE Console is built around the SAFIRE Organizer, which is a management tool controlling all aspects of the software development cycle. With the RTE running on host platforms, such as Windows XP, it launches and controls the executable systems, managing associated libraries and system information for the user (note: for embedded systems the Organizer prepares a run-time image).
The console connects to the SAFIRE virtual machine and collects run-time information about performance statistics and diagnostics. The console also has a configuration editor that allows application parameters to be viewed and modified (GDMO/MIB); different configurations can be saved and reloaded.
SAFIRE Tracer can hook into any SAFIRE signaling system to capture, at run-time and with a low-level timestamp, the system internal events. The events are displayed on-line and decoded to show the names of events, the parameters and source/destination. Captured events can be saved for post-processing off-line.
The tracer can also be used as a full-specification protocol analyzer, e.g. for decoding PDUs from a signaling link or protocol stack. Generic and protocol-specific masks can be applied both on-line (capture filter, count, trigger) and off-line (filter, count, search). Please refer to the individual protocol analyzer datasheets for more information.
