Fixed Access Protocol Architecture
Overview
The Fixed Access protocol analyzer is a SAFIRE Tracer Plug-In for decoding Fixed Access signaling according to the protocol specifications provided by ITU-T, ETSI national and proprietary standards.
This module also includes Fixed Access specific event masks for filtering, triggering, counting and searching, both for online and offline processing of captured data.

Description
The Fixed Access Protocol Analyzer decodes the captured signaling layer-by-layer, with configurable detail levels (off, hex, min, med, max) for each layer. There are several predefined settings from single-line decode, displaying only the key information of the entire Fixed Access message (called number, L3 Address, etc.), up to maximum mode, which presents every bit-field in a layer with value translation.
SAFIRE Tracer Sample
The flexible stack definition provides an automatic selection of the protocols above V5 EF (ISDN, BCC, PROT, LINKCTRL, CTRL, PSTN) depending on the EF address.
For more advanced capture and post-processing of messages there are filter, trigger, counter and search features, based on Fixed Access specific event masks with parameters such as Calling Party Number or Called Party Number, allowing:
- filter messages from a specific switch,
- count successful and unsuccessful calls,
- trigger capturing the messages for a call by a specific subscriber.
The Fixed Access call trace feature automatically finds all the signaling events related to a specific connection, e.g. an V5 call.
