Description

The SIP All-In-One Tester is designed to cover all key aspects of VoIP (SIP) signaling test requirements in next generation networks.  It includes powerful modules for signaling testing, protocol analysis, call analysis, traffic quality analysis and traffic generation. 

Based on the SAFIRE Professional toolchain, which has been designed for the implementation, validation & observation of signaling systems, users have access to a range of advanced features. 

SIP Signaling Testing

The SIP Signaling Tester is a test environment for the SIP signaling specification as defined by the IETF standards. It is a SAFIRE based test harness able to run pre-defined ACATS test scenarios against SIP test objects in a controlled & deterministic manner.

The SAFIRE graphical editor allows new scenarios to be created or existing scenarios to be modified using the SIP interface library (API), which defines the SIP messages & parameters. The test harness includes a VoIP protocol analyzer for on-line capture & decode of the signaling in real-time both during tests & as a stand-alone tracer for live systems.

The VoIP Protocol Analyzer is a SAFIRE Tracer Plug-In for decoding VoIP signaling according to the protocol specifications provided by ITU-T & IETF standards.

This module also includes VoIP specific event masks for filtering, triggering, counting & searching, both for online & offline processing of captured data.

VoIP Protocol Architecture

By passively monitoring Ethernet links between switching elements, the SAFIRE World SIP Call Analyzer analyzes calls & measures signal quality & network performance according to a variety of measurement metrics based on responses times & message flow. The system gives a simple overview of the status, providing a the user with quick indication of gateway performance. For more detailed diagnosis, faults can be analyzed in real-time & post-processed using the SAFIRE Tracer.

SIP Traffic Generation

The Traffic Generator provides a network element or a complete network with a background load for long-term testing.  It is designed to provide millions of calls over weeks of uninterrupted operation.

It allows the generation & reception of up to 30 simultaneous calls. Each call source is mapped to a call sink. The activity of each source & sink is displayed in the Resources section of the Traffic Generator control panel.

The message sequence & all key message parameters are user-configurable. Timers, such as call duration & inter-call interval, can also be configured according to the user’s requirements.

Online statistics & logging to file are provided with the Traffic Generator. These features together with the live decoding in the SAFIRE Tracer enable quick error diagnosis & problem-solving.

RTP Traffic Quality Analysis

The RTP Traffic Quality Analyzer is a passive network monitor for the RTP signaling specification as defined by the IETF standards. It is a SAFIRE based application able to measure & analyze RTP quality metrics for VoIP networks.

The stream browser monitors the network traffic, automatically detecting & tracking RTP streams. The browser gives an on-line overview of the real-time status of active streams with quality metrics, such as jitter, delay & packet loss. The SAFIRE Weighted Quality Index (SWiQI) presents a color-coded, 'at-a-glance' summary of the quality metrics per stream & for the total RTP traffic. Detailed information for a stream can also be presented in real-time charts or saved as a report (HTML).

The network monitor includes a VoIP protocol analyzer for on-line capture & decode of the signaling in real-time, both during quality measurements & as a stand-alone tracer for live systems.

The RTP Traffic Quality Analyzer is suitable for quality & performance measurements in NGN environments & of components such as soft-switches, VoIP clients, routers & gateways.

For the observation of signaling systems, SAFIRE has a built-in protocol analyzer. It is able to capture system internal signaling events, as well as signaling traffic from live networks, using SAFIRE compatible probes & 3rd party applications. The captured events are decoded, formatted & presented according to configurable protocol stacks.
